More than 10,000 people were killed every year by an alcohol-impaired drivers from 2015-2019. And it&#8217;s not just drivers who are at risk. An estimated 13% of fatal pedestrian crashes involved a drunk driver! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So how can you do your part? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Plan ahead! <\/strong>If you already know that you&#8217;re going to be drinking anywhere outside of your home, make sure you know how you will get back safely. Whether this means having the Lyft or Uber app on your phone and set up, having the number for a taxi company, having a family member or friend who can come pick you up, or having a designated driver in your group who will not be having any alcohol. <\/li><li><strong>Don&#8217;t get in the car with an impaired driver!<\/strong> Even if the person didn&#8217;t drink <em>that much<\/em>, even one drink can make them more at risk of being in a fatal crash. Even if someone isn&#8217;t over the legal alcohol limit, they can still be impaired. Make sure that they have waited long enough for the alcohol to get out of their system before you trust them to get behind the wheel. It could save their life, your life, and the lives of other road users. <\/li><li><strong>If you see an impaired driver, report it! <\/strong>If someone is obviously impaired and you feel like they may be a danger to other drivers, call 911.
