After completing Module 1, you can take the DPS Permit Test right from the course. If you are at least 15 years old, you can then go to your local DPS to apply for your learner’s permit.

This course takes a minimum of 14 hours to complete. It serves as a guide for parents and guardians through the necessary subject matter required for providing the required in-car training to their student.
To complete the Parent-Taught Program, the Texas Dept. of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requires a total of 14 hours of behind-the-wheel training by the parent/guardian teacher, which consists of 7 hours of instruction and 7 hours of observation.
