LED Road Indicators – Traffic Technology

If you have ever driven on a dark road, you probably know how hard it can be to see pavement markings, road shoulders or medians. At these times, we wish desperately that there was more lighting. Rightly so, too, since driving in the dark is dangerous!

Luckily, some new technology is bringing light to critical areas in a creative way. Embedded LED lights are being placed into roads, making it easier to see where the lanes and any approaching curves are. These lights are also being added to road signs to help people spot them sooner. In fact, a study discovered that when LEDs were embedded into stop signs, there was a 28.9% reduction in the number of vehicles that fail to stop completely. This impressive number speaks volumes. In addition to encouraging more vehicles to stop, people also tended to approach the signs at a slower and safer speed.

Solar powered LEDs have been used in several states, and have been used for signage, pedestrian crossing areas and more. Since this option is much cheaper than installing wired lighting, it is a flexible option for many locations. In Florida, Lux-Solar has been very involved in making this road safety feature a possibility. Lux-Solar is an industry leader in LED solar lighting, sporting shortest charge times and longest operational time than other similar options.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
